Here’s an interesting article. You’ll often hear arguments against buying ‘cheap’ Chinese-steel knives. The typical argument goes something along the lines of ‘domestically’ produced steels are far superior in performance to those produced in the PRC. Fact is, argues CRKT – a quality knife brand – Chinese steels are modelled on ‘domestic’ versions (for example, there’ll be a chinese version of the 420 series); Chinese manufacturing processes can exactly replicate ‘domestic’ versions. The result? The end product (if equivalent steels are used, processes applied and treatments used) can be exactly the same in terms of quality and utility, regardless of origin. The real difference? Price. Learn a little about knives and how they’re made….and you can make an informed choice. The full article is found by the link. (I do not have shares in the Chinese Steel industry!!).
